Virignia Lottery
The Shop
Fable Branding and Advertising and the Virginia Lottery invited Cry to return for our second collaboration. The Shop is a licensed partnership between Warner Brothers and the Roald Dahl estate. It showcases the Virginia Lottery game featuring a flashy tribute to the infamous Willy Wonka’s Golden Ticket.
With a delightful concept setting the stage, Cry was challenged with creating a Wonka spot - while remaining film agnostic, absent of real candy, and still produce a batch of video spots that could seemingly fit right into the world of Willy Wonka.
Director Justin Rossbacher collaborated with one of his favorite storyboard artists, Kenny Velez, to create every shot of the spots, building the world first in storyboard form. Simultaneously, Justin worked alongside Cry’s Post-Production team to create multiple previs animatics (example above) until he and the agency were confident we had what we needed to pull this off within a tight filming schedule.
Together, we produced a lean and efficient production, as the final spots featured every single shot and setup, save just one.
With memorable characters, a fun-filled set build, and a fantastic aesthetic, the result was a wonder-filled, delight-inspiring, and fun group of spots.
In addition to the primary 30-second and 15-second cuts, Cry’s Post Production team produced an alternate 30-second cut and an extended cut, which were both picked up and used by the client in their public-facing campaign.
