HOW TO KEEP CREATING CONTENT IN A SOCIALLY DISTANCED WORLD

These are ideas that can be implemented in-house or with existing production partners. If you do not have the resources in-house, do not have a production partner, or are looking for a change feel free to reach out to us. We’re happy to help.

At CRY we have Creative, Production, and Post capabilities, so we are able to create content remotely, primarily through these methods.

  1. Repurposing existing footage with new creative

  2. Remote style productions

  3. Animation and motion graphics

1. REPURPOSED FOOTAGE WITH NEW CREATIVE

Do you have a lot of footage because your production team shot more footage than what was needed for your campaign or project? If you are like many of the production colleagues and clients we know, then the answer is almost always: yes.

We provide creative support when needed and remote editing sessions when in-person sessions aren’t possible. Below are examples from two projects where clients hired us to create new content from scraps that ended up on the cutting room floor. One project consisted of footage shot by another production house and one was from a CRY shoot.

Case Study- Carilion

Carilion challenged us to create new content by using their existing footage from a previous commercial campaign. Below are the steps we accomplished remotely:

  • We discussed and clarified goals with the client.

  • We reviewed all existing footage, especially the unused footage.

  • We then reviewed the creative already used in the previous campaign created by Ologie.

  • We developed and wrote two :30 second scripts that were reviewed and approved by the client.

  • We edited two new :30 second spots that were reviewed and approved by the client.

  • ADDITIONALLY, we then edited together a series of :05 second spots for the client to use on web and tv.

Case Study- TAP

TAP challenged us to create a new promotional video without shooting any new footage. Using footage we captured during a previous campaign for TAP, we were able to develop and deliver an entirely new spot for Sabrina’s Place (a TAP program).

2. REMOTE-STYLE PRODUCTIONS

There are many creative ways to acquire new footage and assets remotely. This can include footage shot by the actors or self taping from ‘real world’ project participants. This can also include voice overs recorded remotely and using existing or stock photos and footage.

Case Study- Massmutual

CRY took the script created by the agency and mixed photos, video, and text animation to create the two short spots.

Case Study- Jefferson College

Jefferson College wanted promotional video content, but was limited by their production budget. After evaluating the existing creative, developed by their ad agency partner, Ologie, we proposed translating Jefferson College’s new branding into a set of videos that consisted only of photos.

Case Study- The Courage Conference

The Courage Conference started by Ashley Easter desired to promote the conference through multiple voices and people from all around the country. She did not have the budget nor the turnaround time for a large scale production that would require travel around the country.

CRY’s creative team developed a concept that would ask participants to film themselves with their own phones and then separately record themselves performing voice over statements. We built instructional how-to documents so that each participant could send usable footage, and while some separate footage was shot to supplement the DYI footage, there was a very personal vibe to the end result. Not only did this strategy allow the production stay within budget, the concept was better off for it.

3. ANIMATION & MOTION GRAPHICS

This is a remote content go-to. All it takes is some good creative, and you are good to go. No production necessary. Below is a mix of CRY’s creative and agency/client’s creative.

Fearless (Animation)

Torn (Mixed Media Animation)

Freedom First (Motion Graphics)

GE Energy - Testing Grounds (Animation)

The Eden League (Motional Graphics)

Cowan Gates (Motion Graphics)
